Flexible, affordable advice
Our firm operates on a traditional basis, rather than a purely commercial footing. This means that we ensure our services are flexible and affordable for people in our community who may not otherwise be able to access legal assistance.
Round-the-clock support
For those in our community who have no one else to advocate for them, we offer a 24/7, 365-day-a-year service. Whilst the majority of firms only act during business hours, we understand that assistance is often required at weekends or in the evenings. Whether due to a health crisis or simply needing someone to talk to, knowing that they can pick up the phone and have a chat makes a huge difference to clients and those close to them.
Attorneyship and deputyship
An attorney is appointed when a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is created and a deputyship is put in place when an LPA is not possible due to capacity, for example those who may be in advanced stages of dementia. An attorney or deputy makes decisions on property, finances and health and welfare in the best interests of the ‘donor’.
For clients who have no family members or whose loved ones feel unable to take on the role, our managing partner, Matthew Vernon, is personally appointed as an attorney or deputy. As part of this, clients, their families, carers and even neighbours are provided with his personal phone number and can contact him at any hour if assistance is required.
Matthew is also a Panel Deputy for the North of England, meaning that he is appointed by the Court of Protection to manage the financial affairs of individuals lacking mental capacity when no family member is willing or able to do so.
