Lasting Powers of Attorney
Wills are very important documents. They are an opportunity for you to decide how your hard earned money will be divided and who will benefit from all your hard work in the future.
What to consider when making a Will
Failing to make a will leaves this decision to the government as set out in the rules on intestacy. That may not reflect how you want your assets to be distributed
Our specialist Wills team at Hill and Company can specifically tailor your Will to reflect your individual family and future financial arrangements.
Tax efficient estate planning is very important for clients with large estates exceeding £325,000.00. Our team of solicitors are experts and can help you to minimise the impact of IHT.
What is the Probate Process
Administering a Will through the process of probate can be complex and time consuming. We understand the distress of bereavement and offer a sympathetic and personal service alongside dealing with the incumbent legal processes. We remove the stress and worry from the situation for you at a very sad and difficult time.
Clients often appoint us as their Executors within their Wills. We then impartially carry out the instructions within the Will, which can involve making funeral arrangements, applying for probate, removal and distribution of personal effects from the property and distribution, selling of the property (by auctioning the property or selling through an Estate Agent), realising all other assets including stocks, shares and policies, preparing Estate accounts and accounting to the Capital Taxes Office for Inheritance tax payable by the Estate. The assets of the Estate can then be distributed.
We will advise on tax planning and the formation of trusts and our expert team will work with you to ensure that you and your family`s best interests are met.
We are often appointed as attorneys for our clients. In this circumstance we would deal with your finances including paying bills, selling your house if you wish to move and investing the proceeds for you on your behalf. We act specifically in your best interests without external influence.
Our team of experts in Private Client work can advise on and prepare documents. They can also advise on and prepare applications to the Court of Protection in those situation where loss of legal capacity requireds someone to be appointed to act on your, or perhaps a relatives behalf.
